School Closure:

Please stay informed by checking the local news and any advisories that will be sent via a variety of SFACS platforms (website, parent emails, texts, phone calls, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). Please be advised that we will follow any directive set forth by MDCPS.

Due to increased concern in the community about the spread of Covid-19, the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) and Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) has developed a guide so that parents/guardians have the correct information regarding what the virus is, how to protect yourself and your child, and what to do if you suspect a possible case. It contains valuable tutorials and instructional resources for home use, as well as information on food and nutrition for you all.

Here is what the Miami-Dade County Public Schools currently have in place:

From the initial decision to close schools during the 2019-2020 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the re-opening of schools for the 2020-2021 school year, Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) has maintained a steadfast commitment to making sound decisions based on science. Our approach has been and remains comprehensive in nature and is formed by national/state guidance and local conditions.

M-DCPS continues to closely monitor the latest developments concerning the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as well as local conditions. Due to significantly shifting conditions in our community; the disproportionate impact that the Delta variant is having on individuals, including those who are vaccinated or have antibodies; the fact that vaccinations are not available for all ages; atypical cases involving healthy and younger individuals who have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19; and the most recent guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), M-DCPS has consulted with local health officials to review and refine the protocols to be followed in all schools and District facilities for the 2021-2022 school year. These protocols include the required use of face coverings by students, employees, visitors, and volunteers; the promotion of physical distancing; increased cleaning and sanitization; and others.
